Ride A Wakeboard In Surf

Riding a wakeboard in the surf can be fun in a variety of conditions. First, make sure you are familiar with the area's wind and wave conditions. If not, ask a local. Remember not to ride through the surfers' lineup. Even though you would like to show them how good you are, they really don't give a shit. Lastly, make sure you take out a kite of a size that enables you to be powered up. When you are riding a wakeboard in the waves, you are using the power of the kite to make turns on the wave. Here's how to make the wakeboard work.

1) When you are on the wave, edge the board aggressively as you reverse the kite through the power window. This will initiate your bottom turn.

2) As the kite goes through the window, switch your weight from the heelside rail of the board to the toeside rail, and make your bottom turn.

3) As you are going through your bottom turn, you need to start turning the kite back toward the beach. Keep in mind that in order to turn the kite, you must always be edging the board.

4) As you travel up the wave face toward the lip, transfer your weight from the toeside rail to the heelside rail and make your top turn with speed.

5) When turning off the top of the wave, put pressure on the heelside edge with your back foot. If you come off the top of the wave with pressure on your front foot, it will make you slide.

6) As you come down the wave face, look down the line to set up for your next turn.
