Utilizing your toeside edge to get pop and perform ollie tricks will greatly expand your bag of tricks. The toeside ollie indy is easy, looks cool, and feels good.
Using a little ramp will help you when learning this move. It will help you jump upwards without gaining too much speed and will set you up for a soft landing. You don't need to send your kite since you only need to jump a few feet off the water. Keep the kite stationary (at 1 to 1:30 for a starboard tack and 10:30 to 11 for a port tack).
Now load and pop off your toeside edge to initiate your ollie and slowly turn your hips into the wind as much as you can. As you get more comfortable you will be able to rotate until you are facing into the wind. Getting the initial toeside ollie is important before attempting to grab.
When going for the grab, the first thing you want to avoid is pulling hard on the back hand. Once you are in the air and start to turn into the wind, make sure you relax and let your body flow. On your first few tries you may want to just bend down and tap your board, but stay focused on your landing. Then start going for your toeside edge full on. Once you have the grab down, start tweaking it out.
