WAVE MASTERS SOUTH AFRICA 2003

The second stop on the wave masters tour took place one hour
south of Durban South Africa. Roving between the epic point breaks
of the Natal South Coast, the wave masters were blessed with
consistent wind and solid six foot surf.

These conditions set the stage for an epic showdown, with riders
pushing each other deeper into the section with every wave. The
port tack conditions favoured the right foot forward riders with
consistent 30 Knot wind throughout the heats.

Standouts were Phil Marchand with his smooth power, big wave
charger twiggy baker with his backhand attack and Frenchman Herve
Bourre with his European flare.

The overall event winner was Felix Pivec from Australia. He
attacked sections that most would turn away from and threw buckets
of spray on every turn. By pushing the level of riding waves with
on his new Lift Pro Kites he emerged as the clear winner for the
S.A Wave Masters 2003.
