Hood River, OR, June 5, 2008 – This year's Kiteboarding 4 Cancer, the world's largest windsport fundraiser, brings more prizes, new events, and a world-premier kiteboarding event as part of the day: The KB4C Long Jump.

Participating athletes will again race in the 6-hour Kite Derby Endurance Race, raising money for cancer organizations. This year we've changed the course, requiring more kiteboarding strategy over gear choice. This will make for an action-packed and edge-of-your-seat race to the very end. Also added for this year's event is the World's First Long Jump, a new category devised by race coordinator and announcer, Neil Hutchinson, just for KB4C. With kites racing around the 3-mile course and jumping huge in front of the spectator area to clear the Long Jump, the event will have no shortage of excitement, action, and big air.

The John Wayne Cancer Foundation is partnering with KB4C this year as our primary charity sponsor, providing fundraising athletes with JWCF Team Duke packets and support to KB4C. Last year, JWCF was one of our beneficiary organizations. JWCF embraces the enthusiasm, health and energy contributions of the action sports community to give to the cause of cancer.

Celilo Cancer Center in The Dalles, Oregon is our local partner and beneficiary of KB4C. Celilo is a world-class cancer care facility that offers cancer patients and their families healing opportunities for the body, mind and soul.  It's beautiful state-of-the-art facility provides a home away from home, offering hope, solace and strength through some of the world's most time-honored healing arts.

Our new and most colorful beneficiary is CHAP (Children's Healing Art Project). CHAP brings the healing power of art to children in crisis and their families with a mobile team of teaching artists working in Portland's children's hospitals.

All spectators are welcome to come watch the day's events at KB4C. There will be live music, a silent and live auction, raffle, Beer & BBQ Garden, kids art studio put on by the Children's Healing Art Project, sponsor booths, and after-party at the River City Saloon.

Kiteboarding 4 Cancer was founded by a group of Northwest kiteboarders to unite the kiteboarding unity and those in need for a great cause. KB4C was started out of the desire to use the great health and energy of the participants in the sport of kiteboarding to raise money for cancer research. Raising well over $65,000 in its first year event, KB4C has brought kiteboarding into the spotlight of mainstream action sports and fundraising communities.
