This was the first event of its kind. Similar to when surfers discovered jet skis could tow them into bigger waves, snowkiters are now using snowmobiles to access bigger and better terrain. The Bend Snowkite Crew organized multiple sleds to transfer snowkiters to 7,000 feet in the mountains surrounding Mt. Bachelor in central Oregon. The result: three days of bluebird skies and snowkiting to the summit of Ball Butte. Snowmobiles could certainly be the tool we have needed to access the best terrain in the US. This event will undoubtedly grow and will most likely inspire new events in locations we've never even considered.
Thanks to the Bend Snowkite Crew and kite-line.com for pioneering this event.
