Ticket to Ride have opened a kitesurfing division offering a range of gap year and career break courses in Diani Beach, Kenya, as well as a Kitesurfing Academy in Exmouth, Devon.
The brainchild of school friends Will Hayler and Linley Lewis, Ticket to Ride was established in 2005 to run unique surf courses in South Africa. Since then, they have expanded operations into Mozambique, Costa Rica, Portugal as well as a Surf Academy in Perranporth. The opening of a kitesurfing division is the latest in an impressive line of developments.
“Kitesurfing is a hugely growing sport, and has long since been a hobby of mine,” said Ticket to Ride co-founder Will Hayler. “We have always had the plan to bring it into Ticket to Ride, and to now have it on our books is hugely exciting for all of us.”
In order to maintain the same high level of quality for which Ticket to Ride has become renowned, they have brought the Zephyr Kites team on board to ensure specialist knowledge of the sport and locations.
“We are hugely excited to come under the Ticket to Ride brand,” said former Zephyr Kites owner and new Head of Ticket to Ride Henry Waite. “They have built a strong reputation for their operations, and joining them made a lot of sense.”
The flagship course will be an eight week assistant instructor course on Diani Beach leaving in January, and there are also six- and two-week options available. Prices include tuition for the duration of the course, a safari, half board accommodation, qualifications and more. The Kitesurfing Academy is open and operating in Exmouth, with a range of courses available for all standards.
