The Location:
Situated on one of the most idyllic beaches in the Caribbean, The Reef Kite and Surf offers the ideal location for the traveling kitesurfer.
Rated as one of his favorite spots in the world by Cabrinha Pro Rider Damien Leroy, the sideshore constant trade winds and warm water, mixed together with a long sandy beach provide the perfect haven for both beginners and world class pros.
Water conditions range from flat water to fun waves all in the one enclosed bay.
The main kiting season runs from November through to June and during this time winds average at 90% of the time at force 4 (11-16 knots) or more. Air temperature remains a balmy 83-86 degrees and the sea temperature stays a constant 83 degrees.
The School
Lessons are run by the qualified staff at The Reef Kite and Surf, an IKO centre situated right on the beach. The IKO instructors can take from pure beginners eager to take their first taste of kitesurfing through to the riders wanting to learn the latest aerobatic maneuvers. Also on hand is resident Cabrinha rider David Hastilow who can help with any of your needs and queries.
The school is stocked with a range of Switchblade2 kites and there is also a retail side, which sells Cabrinha products from harnesses through to complete kites.
Also attached to the school is the Reef Café, providing meals from breakfast all the way through to dinner and a full range of drinks. Don't forget to try their famous milkshakes.
Accommodations range from the super clean and ideally located Reef Beach chalets (a stone's throw from the kite spot) through to a fully all-inclusive resort.
All accommodations can be arranged for you by the extremely helpful staff at 'The Reef', as well as hire cars, tours etc.

I went there just before Christmas and was very disappointed. Not very good location & not really as described. I found the staff off hand and left to find somewhere else to fly my kite. I met some Swiss guys who told me about a brand new centre in the next bay called 2 elements. I went there and spent the week with them. All the staff are friendly and highly qualified. Nothing was too much trouble.
Always great kiting at Sandy Beach in St Lucia. Agree with Damien Leroy that it's a world class spot. The guys at the Reef Kite + Surf never anything but the best. Plus cheap & nice food to boost. These people know kiting inside & out. http://kiteboardingcanada.ca/viewtopic.php?f=1&am...
I have heard wonderful things about this place and I can't wait to take my family here!
